Bromont. Millbrook. Richland Park. 5 Points. Plantation. We’ve had a great couple of months- let’s recap! Bromont came and went with My Royal Cooley’s fantastic 3rd place finish (on his dressage score) in the large and competitive CCI* division. Sammy Jo also finished 4th in the strong CIC2* class! The horses had a bit of a summer vacation and we focused on preparing for the Fall season. After Bromont we learned the both wonderful and horrible terrible news that our amazing Head Groom Katie P. would be leaving us to move to Texas with her awesome husband as he had been offered an amazing job he couldn’t turn down. We all were saddened to see her go, and so quickly, but we couldn’t help but also be so excited for her and her future with her family! PDF will always be a home to her and she will always be our family and we can’t wait for her to come back and visit- Colin is counting down the days…
Luckily, we had the perfect candidate for the Head Groom opening already at PDF. Laura stepped into the role with ease due to her time at PDF and her many years of experience working with horses and in the Eventing world specifically. We are so thankful that the transition went so smoothly! Of course then came the search for a new team member and luckily we were able to find a fabulous candidate before Katie P left so we were all sure it would be a great fit. Amanda Hornish joined us hailing from Connecticut with plenty of equine experience- look for a bio on Amanda showing up asap on the site to learn more about her! She’s a great fit for our team so far and heading into the busy fall season it’s been great to have her!
Plain Dealing Farm Eventing is also thrilled to welcome two more additions to our team in the form of two new amazing Sponsors! RevitaVet Therapeutic Systems and Guardian Horse Bedding have graciously shown their support of our program and horses and we couldn’t be more excited to have them on board! Already the RevitaVet system has become an indispensable part of out kit and daily/show routine and we are thrilled to be able to address a variety of issues with it to better the wellbeing of our horses. We’ve got our first order in for shavings from Guardian Bedding and I know the ponies are all counting down the days till they get to dig their toes into their new awesome bedding! We really couldn’t do this without the support of our sponsors!
Galway Bay Cooley had a FANTASTIC run in the Intermediate at Millbrook HT- Thanks to RNS Video for capturing it!
Now to the ponies! Summer went well and we didn’t run much so as to avoid the hard ground, luckily the conditions on our track at home remained perfect so no conditioning time was lost! After a successful weekend at Millbrook HT we shipped out to Richland Park to contest the CIC1* and CIC2*s and for Cedric to run his very first preliminary! It was a very successful weekend with both of Benita’s mares finishing strongly- Cooley All Out had a great run in the CIC1* with a double clear XC, and LVS Dassett Charisma had a great Preliminary outing. JMF Master Cooley (Cedric) stormed around his first Preliminary adding just a bit of time XC to his dressage score- very proud of the chunky boy! Sammy Jo had a freak incident in show jumping and slid through a liverpool vertical, she finished the round but was a tad sore going into XC so I took it easy and she had a slow and steady round. Colin had a great weekend finishing in 6th in the huge CIC2*! Roy also had his first outing since Bromont and had a great run in the CIC1* after a HORRIBLE dressage test where the wind tried to blow him out of the arena- and Roy thought it would be a good idea to leave…he redeemed himself over the rest of the weekend.
Check out some videos from Richland below thanks to RNS Video! Look out for a Five Points and Plantation Field HTs update next!
